Can I look up a specific IP?

This page shows your current public IP by default; to look up other IPs, use the features provided on the page. Looking up someone else's IP only yields the same approximate attribution.

Why is the shown location different from where I am?

IP geolocation databases are usually accurate to the city or carrier egress. When you use a VPN, proxy, corporate line or mobile data, the egress IP legitimately differs from your physical location — that is normal.

How often is IP geolocation updated?

Data comes from public IP geolocation databases and changes with carrier allocations and database updates, so some IPs may lag behind or be tagged to a neighboring city.

Will my IPv6 address be shown?

Yes. If your network connects over IPv6, the page shows the IPv6 address and related details; in dual-stack environments the actual egress protocol is used. IPv6 addresses are longer and their geolocation is also approximate.

What is the difference between a public and a private IP?

A private IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x) is valid only inside your network and not reachable from outside; a public IP is the address reachable on the internet. This page shows your public IP.

Can someone find me through my IP?
